Just over the St. Johns River from Jacksonville’s downtown, and growing outward from the central San Marco Square retail area, San Marco’s residential area features many historic and traditional homestyles. Long considered one of Jacksonville’s most desirable neighborhoods, the neighborhood has been home to some of the city’s families of industry, including the Swisher brothers of King Edwards Cigar Company.

At the north end of San Marco, high-end chain and independent restaurants dot its Southbank streets, and a more urban style of living has arrived via residential high-rises and mixed-use development projects.
